Personal Quirks

  1. I am calendar-driven. If it’s on my calendar, I will be there and I will be on time.
  2. When I’m finished with a job, I clean up the work area and put my tools away in their proper place. The old saying is: “A place for everything, and everything in its place.” That’s why I like our roll-top desk with all the cubbyholes.
  3. I hate to waste money. It aggravates me to spend money on food and then see it go to waste. Very early in our marriage, Teri Sue made an enchilada casserole but used Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk instead of evaporated mile per the recipe. So we had sweet enchiladas – but I ate them because I didn’t want to waste the hamburger. I also didn’t want to disappoint my wife…….
  4. Our credit score is pretty close to 800 and I like to keep it that way by paying all our bills on time. Now that payments are pretty much electronic, it’s ridiculously easy to be timely as long as our outgo doesn’t exceed our income. Automatic payments are a no-brainer; I just make certain those payments are subtracted from our bank balance well in advance of the due date so we don’t spend money we don’t actually have.
  5. I balance our checkbook to the penny at least once a month.
  6. I get mad when I am personally criticized for something I didn’t have any control over. At one Rotary training session the District Governor, unbeknownst to me, brought along a luncheon speaker who literally droned on and on. Rotarians were glaring at me, tapping their watches, etc. and I could only take the heat. I’m getting mad just writing about it now.
  7. Spelling errors irritate me. I am reminded of the fake wedding invitation we received from Jaynie and Kevin; we didn’t know Jaynie (or her sense of humor) at that time, and we were aghast at the spelling and language usage errors. I retaliated at their wedding rehearsal with some choice scripture passages from Song of Solomon.
